Vim, Vigor, Victory 2018

Last August 16 – 19 and 20, Aklan Valley High School held an event named Vim, Vigor, and Victory. It was a significant event for AVHS students, alumnus/alumnae, and to other people who want to watch the said event. There are different sports being played such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, etc. but the most awaited part is the Cheerdance Competition. I was one of the participants in that competition and it was a great yet memorable experience. I felt different emotions the day of the competition. Our uniform was not yet finished! Some dancers do not have any uniform that made us cry in tears. Who would like to compete in the competition with no uniform? No one, right? So we blamed the tailors that they didn’t finish our uniforms the day before the deadline. Although some do not have uniforms, we still performed. We gave our very best to prove to the judges and the people around that we can still compete and we’re not easily giving up.

Day 2 of the intramurals was an exciting one. I didn’t join sports because I’m not the sporty kind of person. Yet, I was one of the supportive batchmate cheering for the players. Though sometimes we got defeated by other batch, we still develop our sportsmanship towards them. We should learn how to accept defeat because not all the time we will win. We, as individuals, have different potentials given by God to develop so we have to know what those potentials are in order to showcase our skills in different talents.

Awarding. Everyone was really restless and excited for the results. Many got sad and happy. But the most important thing is, we should obtain sportsmanship in order for peace and unity inside the campus. Defeat may feel us discouragement and failure but hey, it teaches us the best lessons after all.

Beats of Music Through Our Lives

Music interests me in many ways. Music helps us express our emotions that cannot be able to vocalize through the use of words. It improves and relaxes our mood in everyday lives. If we feel sad and alone, just listen to some happy music and it will boost your mood. Listening to music also provides comfort to people and helps enhance communication, manage, and expression of feelings such as fear, loneliness, and anger. Music aid some students from studying their lessons because some pupils can easily memorize and remember when listening to music. Imagine our life without it, our life would be boring, right?

To be honest, for me, old songs are way better than latest songs. Old songs have more meaningful and deep lyrics and it really matches our emotions like if you’re listening to it, it feels like the songs knows our current situation. Some people cry when they’re listening to the song that reminds them about the past. “One song, hundreds of memories”, that if you ever hear that one song, flashbacks come along. Yes, songs can make you happy but it can also make you sad.

There are also religious musical songs that are played on churches that worship God. Religious songs manifest our love, glorification, and adoration to our Lord Jesus Christ. Whenever I sing worship songs, I feel relaxed because I feel the love of God inside me. In our lives, there will come a time when we feel useless and unloved. Worship songs help us lessen the pain because we are praising the Most High God who is always with us through our ups and downs.
